There are important rules and guidance on what businesses can and cannot say when promoting World Cup-related events.

Key Guidelines for Businesses

• FIFA World Cup 2026™ branding, logos, and assets are strictly protected trademarks and cannot be used without authorization
• You cannot imply any official connection (e.g., “official sponsor,” “official partner,” "official restaurant of.." etc.)
• Host City branding (including Vancouver’s official marks) is restricted to approved partners only
• Terms like “Fan Fest”, "Fan Zone" or official FIFA event names are also protected and should not be used
• Don't copy or recreate FIFA designs, mascots, or trophy imagery
• Businesses are encouraged to create soccer-themed, celebratory experiences—without implying official association with FIFA

What You Can Do

• Promote watch parties, themed events, and specials
• Use generic soccer/football imagery (balls, fans, flags, fields)
• Reference the event factually (e.g., dates, locations, schedules)
• Create experiences tied to visiting fans (food, culture, hospitality)
• Highlight your business as near venues or part of the local experience

Public Viewing Restrictions

• If your event is free, under 1,000 attendees, and part of regular operations, NO license is needed.
• If your business plans to show the FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches as part of normal operations (such as bars, restaurants, and hotels showing matches as part of their usual service) then you do NOT need a license
• If you’re adding sponsors, selling tickets, or expect more than 1,000 people, you likely need a Public Viewing license.  Apply at least 60 days ahead at publicviewing.fifa.org

Certain matches and moments in the tournament are expected to drive significantly higher customer traffic.

Top Dates to Plan For:
June 12 – Canada Opening Match
June 18 – Canada Match (Vancouver)
June 24 – Canada Match (Vancouver)
June 13, 18, 21, 24, 26 – 📍 BC Place Matches
June 25–27 – Final Group Stage Matches (high stakes)
June 28 – July 7 – Knockout Rounds Begin
July 14–19 – Semi-Finals & Final (peak demand period)

👉 These dates are expected to generate the highest levels of customer activity, particularly for restaurants, pubs, and hospitality businesses.
