Expressions of Interest:
Facilitator for Langley Chamber
Executive Peer Advisory Circles
The Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce is seeking an experienced facilitator to lead a cohort of Langley Chamber Executive Peer Advisory Circles — a new peer advisory program for Chamber members. We are inviting expressions of interest from qualified facilitators and coaches within our membership.
About the program
Peer Circles places 8–12 established, non-competing Chamber members in a confidential group that meets monthly to work on each other's real business challenges — staffing, sales, cash flow, pricing, growth, operations, leadership. It is the peer advisory model used in other forums, rebuilt at a Chamber scale and price point.
The program was identified as a priority in the Chamber's Strategic Plan and 2025–26 Operating Plan. Member demand is established: in our 2026 member survey, 86% of respondents expressed interest in participating in a facilitated peer group.
Program shape:
- 8–12 members per Circle
- one seat per industry, so no competitors sit together
- monthly meetings of 2.5-3 hours (breakfast or evening)
- a six-month founding term
- consistent, closed membership for the duration of the circle
The role:
The facilitator is engaged by the Chamber to run one Circle for its six-month term. The key value in the room is the experience of the participants, and the facilitator's first job is to draw it out, keep it safe, and keep it moving.
That said, we are engaging an experienced practitioner, not a neutral chairperson. The facilitator’s own insight, the patterns seen across other businesses, and the occasional framework that unlocks a stuck conversation are genuinely valuable.
Core responsibilities:
- Facilitate six monthly meetings of 2.5–3 hours each, following the program's standard format (round-table check-in, member "hot seat" problem-solving, a facilitated round on a shared topic, and closing commitments).
- Protect the format — in particular, keeping advice in experience-sharing mode ("here's what happened when I…") rather than lecture or consulting mode.
- Manage airtime so that no member dominates and no member disappears.
- Hold the accountability loop: open each meeting by following up on the commitments members made at the last one.
- Enforce the ground rules in the room, including confidentiality and the no-selling rule.
- Provide a brief check-in with the Chamber's program lead after each meeting — attendance, general temperature, and any membership risks. This check-in never includes meeting content.
- Flag membership issues (attendance, fit, conflict) to Chamber staff between meetings.
- Participate in the composition of the Circle roster and meeting schedule and format alongside the program lead before the term begins.
What we are looking for
- Demonstrated experience facilitating groups of business owners or executives — not solely one-to-one coaching.
- Comfort holding structure and enforcing rules with peers you may know socially or professionally.
- The judgment to sit with a difficult conversation rather than resolve it prematurely.
- A track record of discretion. Confidentiality is a main part of the product.
- Membership in good standing with the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce.
- Willingness to sign the Chamber's Facilitator Agreement as written, including the terms below.
Terms of engagement
- Fee: $750 per meeting, inclusive of preparation and the post-meeting check-in (plus GST if you are a registrant). Six meetings per term — $4,500 per Circle.
- Commitment: six monthly meetings over the term, plus roster composition before the term starts. Dates are fixed and published in advance.
- Confidentiality: binds the facilitator on identical terms to members, and survives the engagement indefinitely.
- No solicitation: the facilitator may not pitch, propose, or accept coaching or consulting engagements with Circle members during the term and for six months afterward, unless a member initiates in writing and the Chamber is informed. The fee — not the room — is the compensation.
- Conflict screen: no Circle member may be your direct competitor or a current client. Declared conflicts are managed at roster composition.
- Format fidelity: the Circle is not a venue for your own methodology, programs, or content beyond sharing experiences or light frameworks that serve the discussion.
Selection process
- Expression of interest — submit the short response outlined below.
- Conversation — a discussion with the Chamber about your approach, availability, and any conflicts.
- Practical session — shortlisted candidates may be asked to facilitate a paid 60-minute mock session with Chamber staff and volunteers, using the program's format. This is compensated at $250.
- Confirmation — the selected facilitator signs the Facilitator Agreement and joins the launch planning.
While we are starting with a founding cohort, depending on member interest the Chamber may launch additional or subsequent Circles. As such, we are seeking to build a bench of interested facilitators beyond the individual selected to host the initial cohort.
How to express interest:
Please complete our online application by 4:00 pm on Friday, August 28, 2026.  Online Application >Â
The submission form will ask:
- Your name and business
- A summary of your group facilitation experience: what kinds of groups, what size, over what period, and in what setting.
- How you could support the execution of the Chamber's Executive Peer Advisory Circles program
- A short description of how you would handle two situations:
- (a) a member who dominates every discussion, and
- (b) a member who attends but never brings anything real to the table.
- Any conflicts we should know about now or which could potentially arise
- Your availability for breakfast (7:30–10:30 am) and/or evening (5:00–8:00 pm) meetings, and any known conflicts between November 2026 and April 2027.
- Confirmation that you have read and accept the terms of engagement above, including the no-solicitation provision.
