• Be located in an area of British Columbia zoned for commercial or light industry use; and
• Have an exterior entrance (accessible directly from an outside area such as sidewalk, street or parking area), which serves as the primary access point for customers and clients; and
• Have a BC Business Registration Number; and
• Be in good standing with the Province of British Columbia; and
• Have less than 50 employees at the time the police report is filed for damage to commercial property, or at the time preventative work is undertaken, and
• Not have received an alternative, local rebate or grant to cover the same expense

This is a rebate, so it is funds to recover some of the costs already incurred due to vandalism.

Applicants must therefore provide:

• Photos of the damage experienced
• Police file number associated with the incident
• Proof of insurance non-coverage or the deductible amount if covered by insurance
• Receipts from a registered business for the completed repair work for the damage

Costs of repairing or replacing vandalized property not covered by insurance, or the insurance deductible paid for making the repairs.  These repairs can include things like replacing windows, fixing locks, repairing doorways, etc.

Applications will be accepted through an online portal starting November 22, 2023.  The portal closes to applications January 31, 2025.

Applications for repairs or preventative measures undertaken during 2023 will be accepted until February 29, 2024 – after that, they will not be accepted.
